What is the main purpose of religiousness: getting closer to God or behaving as religious persons should do? In the present essay, both points of view are acknowledged, one leading to an “interior religiousness” and the other to an “exterior religiousness.” Although these two religious orientations may look similar and are very often intermingled, there is a significant difference between them.
